How do you turn a regular ottoman into a storage ottoman?
I have a 3x3x1.5' ottoman and I am looking to turn it into a storage ottoman. I was thinking of simply cutting below the cushion and stapling a piece of plywood to the bottom of the cushion and then using the hollow part inside of the ottoman (below the cushion) as storage. If i Place a piece of plywood on the bottom of the ottoman as well then i should be able to store anything inside. The only problems i see are hinging the top cushion to the bottom half of the ottoman and the fact that i would need some way to support the cushion and make it so people could still sit down on it. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

I think I would forget the hinge, and attach a 1x2 around the four sides of the bottom of the ottoman cushion {in a square}, so it {the square} would snugly fit on the inside of the ottoman {storage space area}
Then you could just lift off the top when you needed to get something out ….
